Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Welcome to a new school year! We are excited to begin another year of learning, growth, and collaboration at Sheppard Middle School. Whether you are a returning family or joining us for the first time, we are so glad to have you with us.

This year, we are especially honored to welcome new students and families from neighboring communities impacted by recent school closures. We understand that transitions can bring both challenges and new opportunities, and we are committed to ensuring every student feels supported, valued, and connected as they begin this next chapter at Sheppard.

Sheppard Middle School is a community rooted in dedication, partnership, and a shared commitment to student success. Through strong relationships among students, families, and staff, we’ve built a safe and inclusive environment where high expectations, academic excellence, and personal growth are central to everything we do.

📅 First Day of School

We are eager to see all Sheppard students on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 8:45 AM.

📱 ParentSquare Communication

ParentSquare is our main platform for school-to-home communication. It allows you to:

  • Stay informed about updates and events
  • Receive messages in your preferred language
  • Directly message teachers

Please use the QR code provided or visit ParentSquare registration to sign up and enable notifications.

🕒 Daily Schedule

  • Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri: 8:45 AM – 3:06 PM
  • Thursdays: 8:45 AM – 1:51 PM
  • Minimum Days: 8:45 AM – 1:46 PM

🚸 Arrival and Pick-up

  • Limited supervision before 8:00 AM
  • Early arrivals may:
    • Go to the homework center
    • Socialize in the courtyard
    • Recreate on the blacktop behind C/D buildings
  • After-school supervision is limited. Students not in a program should walk or be picked up.

📞 Absences

Please call (408) 928-8800 if your child is absent. If your child will not attend the first days of school, notify us. Students not in attendance by Friday, August 15 will be dropped from enrollment.

🍽️ Meals

Free meals provided under ARUSD’s CEP program:

  • Breakfast: 8:00–8:45 AM (front entry)
  • Lunch: During school from cafeteria or courtyard
  • Supper: For Boys & Girls Club participants

📚 Extended Learning Program

After-school program in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club until 6:00 PM:

🗓️ Student Schedule Pickup

  • 6th Grade: Friday, August 8, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • All Students: Monday, August 11 or Tuesday, August 12, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Schedules not picked up will be given on the first day

📵 Cell Phone Policy

Cell phones are not needed during school hours. If brought, they must be off/silent in the YONDR pouch. Visible or audible phones will be confiscated and only returned to a parent/guardian. The school is not responsible for lost or damaged phones.

👕 Dress Code

Please review the Sheppard Dress Code before purchasing school clothing.

All students must dress for PE daily. PE uniforms are available for purchase:

  • T-shirts: $15
  • Shorts: $15
  • Sweatpants: $25
  • Sweatshirts: $30
  • Alternatives: Solid black bottoms or solid gray tops

¡Bienvenidos a un nuevo año escolar! Nos entusiasma comenzar otro año de aprendizaje, crecimiento y colaboración en la Escuela Intermedia Sheppard. Ya sea que regresen o se unan por primera vez, nos alegra mucho tenerlos con nosotros.

Este año, nos sentimos especialmente honrados de dar la bienvenida a nuevos estudiantes y familias de comunidades vecinas afectadas por el reciente cierre de escuelas. Entendemos que las transiciones pueden traer tanto desafíos como nuevas oportunidades, y nos comprometemos a garantizar que cada estudiante se sienta apoyado, valorado y conectado al comenzar este nuevo capítulo en Sheppard.

La Escuela Intermedia Sheppard es una comunidad basada en la dedicación, la colaboración y el compromiso compartido con el éxito estudiantil. ParentSquare es nuestra plataforma principal para la comunicación escuela-hogar. Permite a los padres/tutores:

🕒 Horario Diario

  • Lunes, martes, miércoles y viernes: 8:45 a.m. – 3:06 p.m.
  • Jueves: 8:45 a.m. – 1:51 p.m.
  • Días mínimos: 8:45 a.m. – 1:46 p.m.

🚸 Llegada y Recogida

  • Supervisión limitada antes de las 8:00 a.m.
  • Los estudiantes pueden:
    • Estar en el centro de tareas
    • Socializar en el patio central
    • Jugar en el asfalto detrás de los edificios C y D
  • Después de la escuela, los estudiantes que no estén en un programa deben irse a casa o ser recogidos.

📞 Ausencias

Si su hijo está ausente, llame al (408) 928-8800. Si no asistirá los primeros días de clases, notifíquelo. Cualquier estudiante que no esté presente el viernes 15 de agosto será dado de baja.

🍽️ Desayuno y Almuerzo

Se ofrecen comidas gratuitas bajo el programa CEP:

  • Desayuno: 8:00–8:45 a.m. en la entrada principal
  • Almuerzo: Durante el día escolar en la cafetería o el patio central
  • Cena: Para estudiantes inscritos en el programa Boys & Girls Club

📚 Programa de Aprendizaje Extendido

En colaboración con Boys & Girls Club, el programa ofrece apoyo y enriquecimiento hasta las 6:00 p.m.

🗓️ Recogida de Horarios

  • Sexto grado: Viernes 8 de agosto, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Todos los estudiantes: Lunes 11 o martes 12 de agosto, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Quienes no recojan su horario lo recibirán el primer día de clases.

📵 Política de Teléfonos Celulares

Los estudiantes no necesitan teléfonos celulares en la escuela. Si los traen, deben estar apagados o en silencio y guardados en la funda YONDR. Si se ven o escuchan durante el día escolar, serán confiscados y deberán ser recogidos por un padre o tutor. La escuela no se responsabiliza por teléfonos perdidos o dañados.

👕 Código de Vestimenta

Revise el código de vestimenta de Sheppard antes de comprar ropa escolar.

Todos los estudiantes deben vestirse para Educación Física diariamente. Uniformes disponibles:

  • Camisetas: $15
  • Pantalones cortos: $15
  • Pantalones deportivos: $25
  • Sudaderas: $30
  • Alternativa: pantalones negros lisos o blusas grises lisas
