Meet the Principals
Doug Kleinhenz
|
Mr. Kleinhenz began his career in education in 2001 with the Alum Rock Union School District (ARUSD). Since 2009, he has had the privilege of serving as a middle school principal within the district. He is excited to be part of the Sheppard Middle School (SMS) family and work alongside an incredible team. With a deep commitment to the Alum Rock community, Mr. Kleinhenz is dedicated to helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and habits they need to succeed both in life and in making a positive impact on the world. El Sr. Kleinhenz comenzó su carrera en educación en 2001 en el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Alum Rock (ARUSD). Desde 2009, ha tenido el privilegio de ser director de una escuela secundaria dentro del distrito. Está entusiasmado de unirse a la familia de la Escuela Secundaria Sheppard (SMS) y trabajar junto a un equipo increíble. Con un profundo compromiso con la comunidad de Alum Rock, el Sr. Kleinhenz se dedica a ayudar a los estudiantes a desarrollar los conocimientos, las habilidades y los hábitos necesarios para tener éxito en la vida y generar un impacto positivo en el mundo. |
Joseph Manluco
Dr. Manluco began his teaching career in 2007 through Teach for America. He came to Alum Rock to complete his Corps Member service and continued in the field as a science teacher. He has worked in several education capacities serving TK-12 in local districts and charters, graduate school, and high tech learning development.
Since 2017, he has served Alum Rock in teacher leadership at the site and district level and has been in the principal and assistant principal roles since 2019. In his fifth year at Painter Elementary, Dr. Manluco is committed the expansion of the bilingual Vietnamese program alongside the legacy standard program. He is dedicated to create an atmosphere open to the multilingual and multicultural vision of Alum Rock that prepares students for successful college and career ready futures.
Primavera Hernandez

Ms. Hernandez began her teaching career in the Alum Rock Union School District at Dorsa Elementary in 2001. In 2006, seeking a new challenge, she transitioned to middle school, where she has taught math and English language arts. Over the years, she has also served as an instructional coach, supporting both teachers and students. Ms. Hernandez is deeply passionate about working with youth in the Alum Rock community and is proud to serve as the Assistant Principal at Sheppard Middle School, where she continues to inspire and support student growth and achievement. La Sra. Hernández comenzó su carrera docente en el Distrito Escolar Alum Rock Union, en la Escuela Primaria Dorsa, en 2001. En 2006, buscando un nuevo reto, ingresó a la secundaria, donde ha impartido clases de matemáticas y lengua y literatura inglesa. A lo largo de los años, también se ha desempeñado como orientadora educativa, apoyando tanto a docentes como a estudiantes. La Sra. Hernández siente una gran pasión por trabajar con jóvenes en la comunidad de Alum Rock y se enorgullece de ser subdirectora de la Escuela Secundaria Sheppard, donde continúa inspirando y apoyando el crecimiento y el rendimiento estudiantil. |
